Carnegie Communications Study
Canisius was ranked among the top 25 colleges in the Northeast by a study released in 2004 by Carnegie Communications.   The survey of nearly 4,000 college-bound high school students compared the ranking criteria of the nation’s ranking leader, US News and World Report, with what students, the primary consumers of higher education, feel are the appropriate weights.

Middle States Accredited

Canisius College’s regional accreditation was reaffirmed in 2005 by the Middle States Association Commission on Higher Education.  The college received special commendation on four standards: for clearly affirming its Catholic and Jesuit mission and identity; for the leadership of its Board of Trustees in strategic planning; for the stability of its senior administration; and for being a campus “welcoming to all religions.”

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education, 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA  19104 (267-284-5000) is an agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Secretary of Education for accrediting activities in the Middle States region.

NCATE Accredited
In 2005, the Canisius College School of Education and Human Services was granted professional accreditation by the National Council Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).  The agency praised the school for “displaying the high quality necessary to be granted national accreditation” and noted that its programs “met rigorous standards set forth by the education community.”  The U.S. Department of Education recognizes NCATE as a specialized accrediting body for schools, colleges and departments of education.

AACSB Accredited
The Richard J. Wehle School of Business is the largest private institution in Western New York accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International). The college has held this distinction of excellence since 1977. AASCB is earned by the best business schools in the world, and only 15 percent of business schools worldwide meet the rigorous standards of AACSB International Accreditation.
