Lilly Conference Discussion
On Wednesday, December 10, the Canisius Lilly team will meet in the Faculty Lounge at 1 p.m. to reflect upon and discuss their experiences at theLilly Conference on College Teaching at Miami University of Ohio. Canisiuswas represented by Music Professor Rick Falkenstein, PhD,Sociology/Anthropology Professor Erin Robinson, PhD, Chemistry ProfessorSteve Szczepankiewcz, PhD, English Professor Forrest Roth, EducationProfessor Sherri Weber and Patricia Coward, PhD, director of the Center forTeaching Excellence. The three-day conference included presentations suchas “What the Best College Teachers Do,” “Creating Significant LearningExperiences: An Integrated Approach to Designing College Courses,” and“Teaching Tips: Strategies, Research and Theory for College and UniversityTeachers.” Please join us for an hour of lively discussion about theconference and what the team members took away from it. Gender and Society SOC 291
Members of the class visited the Lutheran Church Home on Delevan Avenue, October 15 and interviewed residents about their work and family lives. Students learned alot about the way life was in the past, and enjoyed visiting with the residents.












Faculty Tenure and Promotion Ceremony
On Friday, September 5, 17 Canisius faculty members were promoted or granted tenure during a ceremony in the Andrew L. Bouwhuis Library including Patricia E. Erikson, PhD, professor of sociology, anthropology and criminal justice. She is pictured below in the red jacket.
