Meal Plan Policy
First semester freshmen residing in Bosch, Frisch, or Dugan residence halls are required to participate in Meal Plan 1 or 2. Second semester freshmen residing in those residence halls may choose Meal Plan 1, 2, or 3. Sophomore, junior, or senior students residing in Bosch, Frisch, or Dugan residence halls are required to contract either Meal Plan 1, 2, 3, or 4.
All other resident and commuter students may choose any of the Meal Plans.
Use your college ID card to make meal purchases at any of the four Chartwells dining service locations on campus; the Economou Dining Hall, Old Main Snack Bar, Upper Deck and Street Side Cafe. Meal Plans cannot be accessed without your ID card. Lost or damaged ID cards may be replaced at the Public Safety Office. Please report lost cards immediately at the the link at the top of this page or by calling Public Safety at 888-2330. A replacement fee may apply. Meal Plans are non-transferable to other students.
Meal Plan Enrollment and Making Meal Plan ChangesMeal Plan Enrollment - you can enroll in Meal Plan 1, 2, 3 or 4, using the link at the top of this page, without pre-paying,
through the first two weeks of each semester. You can also call or come into our office. Your meal plan choice will be added to your tuition bill. Your fall meal plan choice will also be automatically added to your spring tuition bill, unless changed.
Changes to Meal Plans - after enrolling in Meal Plan 1, 2, 3 or 4, you can change your meal plan, using the link at the top of this page, without pre-paying, through the first two weeks of each semester. You can also call or come into our office. Your new meal plan choice will be added to your fall tuition bill, and then will also be automatically added to your spring tution bill, unless changed.ADDING a Meal Plan after the first two weeks of school - you can ADD a meal plan by calling or coming to our office, on a pre-paid basis only.Meal Plan ScheduleThe dining week runs from Friday morning through Thursday night. Meal Plans 1, 2 and 3 are replenished to their full balance each Friday morning. Unused meals do not carry over to the next week or semester. Meal Plan 4 can be used anytime throughout the entire semester, there is not a weekly allotment, but unused meals at the end of the semester do not carry over to the next semester.
Chartwells serves breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday through Friday. Brunch and dinner are served Saturday and Sunday. A meal plan entitles you to meals only when classes are in session. Students who are required to remain on campus during extended breaks (Christmas, Easter) may purchase meals using Flex, SuperFlex, Golden Choice or cash. If you withdraw from the college during the semster, a refund will be granted on a weekly prorated basis. There are no meal plans available in the summer. (Visit www.dineoncampus.com/canisius for food service hours of operation ) Bonus Bucks and Bonus MealsBonus Bucks are provided with all Meal Plans each semester. Bonus Bucks can be used throughout the fall semester and any remaining at the end of fall, carry over to the spring semester. Any unused Bonus Bucks remaining at the end of the spring semester are forfeited. Food purchases in excess of the meal plan cash equivalence can be paid for with Bonus Bucks.
Bonus Meals are also provided with all Meal Plans. Bonus Meals can be used throughout the fall semester, but any remaining at the end of fall are forfeited. Bonus Meals can be used for an extra meal during a meal period or to bring a guest to a meal. Bonus Meals are redeemable at any dining location during meal plan hours.

GOLDEN CHOICEDesigned for resident and commuter students alike, the Golden Choice account is a debit account similar to the Flex Fund and SuperFlex that allows you to use your college ID card to make purchases on campus in the four dining service locations. However, you can also use the Golden Choice account to make purchases in the vending machines, bookstore and copy machines.
