The Women's Business Center is proud to announce the launching of the new Business Coaching Program! Our mission is to help you start your own business or grow your existing business to a new level of success. This program will provide outstanding networking opportunities.

Business Coaching Program


September 2008 - September 2009

PROGRAM
: This one-year coaching program begins in September and runs for twelve (12) months. Size is limited and selection is based on the candidate’s application, need, and interview. In this program, participants are paired with successful business owners and professionals (coaches).

ENTRANCE: The first step is to apply. Your application will be reviewed by a committee for eligibility. Next, you will have a personal interview with a member of the WBC executive staff and the committee. Be prepared to supply proof of eligibility at your interview. For program eligibility, you must:
  1. Be an established business, filing tax returns
  2. Not be a start-up business
  3. Personally manage and direct your business
  4. Have a business checking account
  5. Have a structured, tangible place/location to conduct business
  6. Have a formal business tax structure - DBA or corporation
  7. Be the primary business owner
At the time of your interview, you will be required to submit the following:

  1. Names of your professional advisors
  2. Written goals/expectations of what you would like to accomplish over the next twelve (12) months
  3. Business plan
GOALS: You will complete and/or update your business plan. We will review the list of goals and expectations you provide during the interview process, help you determine feasability, and start you on the process of acheiving your goals over the next twelve (12) months. Our mission is to help you understand, expand, and grow your business to a new level of success. This program will also provide outstanding networking opportunities.

COMMITMENT: In addition to the program investment, your time is the biggest commitment you will make. Plan on a minimum of eight (8) hours a month dedicated to working on your business, not in your business.


Beginning in October, you will:
  • Meet bi-monthly on the first Tuesday of every other month for a two (2) hour group session.
  • Meet once a month with your coach for a one-on-one meeting for a minimum of one (1) hour.
  • Have working assignments that require an additional 2-10 hours in preparation for your next one-on-one meeting with your coach.
  • Set your own times to meet with your coach for one-on-one meetings.
INVESTMENT: $25.00 application fee and $500.00 program investment (*Note the price has changed)

LOCATION: The location of the one-on-one meetings will be at the agreement of the participant and the coach. Quarterly meetings will be held at the Canisius College Women’s Business Center, 2365 Main Street, Buffalo, NY, unless otherwise designated. Ample parking is available adjacent to the building.

COACHES: Coaches are successful business owners and professionals who are leaders in their fields. All of the coaches will go through training and will have structure to their guidance to best help your specific business needs. The WBC executive staff will match the individuals with the coach; changes can be made based on individual circumstances.
